Complete FMC Bida Permanent Site, Etsu Nupe Appeals To FG

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has called on the Federal Government to ensure the urgent completion of the permanent site of the Federal Medical Centre, Bida.

Abubakar, who is the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said it would enable the centre to move to the permanent site and provide efficient services to the people .

The Etsu Nupe spoke in Bida, Niger State, on Friday, at the 2021 Stakeholders’ Forum of the Centre where he was represented by the Mayaki Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Mayaki

The Royal father, however, lauded the centre for doing very well in providing quality healthcare services to the people of the state and beyond.

According to him, though a tertiary health institution, FMC Bida, provides secondary services to it’s teeming patients.

Abubakar further noted that the centre was having enormous pressure, due to the high demand for its services .

The monarch commended the hospital’s Board, Management and staff, for living above board in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Abubakar pledged to offer sustained support to the centre , to enable it to achieve more successes.

Also, the Board Chairman, Alhaji Is’haq Usman, Sarkin Shanun Jere, said the board was delighted to be associated with the peaceful and hospitable Bida community, led by the revered Etsu Nupe.

The Chairman said several capital projects were either completed or ongoing, while wide range of medical equipment had been purchased and fully put to use

Sarkin Shanu Jere added that the board had recorded some feats that included the facilitation of industrial peace and Harmony, through regular engagements between the Management Team and the Union Leaders.

He said that staff welfare was always accorded top priority, to ensure productivity and motivation.

In the same vein, the Board’s Chairman said that regular community engagements were sustained, to bolster mutual understanding, cooperation and collaboration.

He disclosed that the board had agreed to expand clinical services, leading to the introduction of Intensive Care Unit, dialysis, reproductive technologies and scan, among others.

The Medical Director of the centre, Dr Mohammed Aminu-Usman said the forum would engender a lot of cooperation and support, saying ” we cherish our cordial relationship with our critical stakeholders.”

According to him, the forum is an important platform to periodically interface to share information, concerns and experiences on the services rendered by the centre.

He called for more contributions from the participants at the forum, to bolster the development of the hospital, as well as enable it to sustain the provision of quality healthcare services.

In his welcome address, Alhaji Musa Ladan, Director of Administration of the centre, said the stakeholders Interactive Forum was intended to provide an atmosphere for meaningful exchange of ideas and information sharing among the medical centre, the service users and those directly or indirectly connected with their services.

According to him, the objective is to foster mutual understanding, build partnerships and collaboration for improved service delivery, in compliance with SERVICOM concept and the Patients’ Bill of Right, championed by the Federal Government.

“We give glory to Almighty Allah that this hospital has witnessed phenomenal growth and development under the present Board and Management team.

“Indeed today, Federal Medical Centre, Bida occupies a big space on the map of federal tertiary institutions in Nigeria and ranks among the teaching hospitals, in terms of scope and quality of services rendered”.

A stakeholder and former Board member of the centre, Mr Timothy Jiya, was of the view that credible alternative of revenue generation should be sourced to meet the standard expected of the centre.
