CP Sadiq Abubakar Reiterates FCT Police Command’s Commitment To Fighting Crime In Abuja

The FCT Police Command, CP Sadiq Abubakar has reaffirms the Command’s commitment to combat crime and criminality in the FCT.

CP Abubakar said this on Friday at the FCT Police Command while parading 18 suspected criminals arrested on various degrees of offences.

According to the CP, on the 22nd of December 2022, operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested the following suspect: Ibrahim Umar, 30 years. Nurudeen Yunusa, Muhammed Ahmed, Yunusa Ibrahim, Amodu Ahmed, Zakari Muhammed, Yusuf Ibrahim, Isah Labaran, Muhammed Mahammed and Salihu Suleiman.

The suspects were arrested at You and You Hotel, Sambisa Masaka Area of Nasarawa State and the following items were recovered in their possession: 5 AK47 Rifle, 4 G-3 Rifles, 122 Lives ammunitions of 7.62MM, one locally made pistol without ammunition, 3 ballistic vests, 6 AK47 empty magazines, 7 G-3 empty magazines, charms of various degree, one Police Sgt warrant card, one vigilante ID card, one Civil Defence I.D card, one Toyota Camry 2000 model, golden colour, Reg No. GGE 702 CH, one golf 3 wagon green colour, reg. no KWL 22 GQ x, Two generators, and One Filing Machine.

In another development, the Command’s proactive crime-fighting strategy yielded the arrest of Isah Wada Akubo, 38 years, Sunday Jacob, John Monday Audu and Peter Adaji.

The suspects were arrested for armed robbery and various degrees of notorious acts which includes robbing POS. Operators and hunting down people they suspect has money, especially in Maitama, Garki, Wuse and the central area of the FCT.

Also, a case of culpable homicide involving a suspect, Taiwo Ojo, aged 63 years who killed Mr Philip Kura and burnt the body before burying him in a shallow grave in Bwari Area Council.

Among the exhibits recovered from them are; Three locally made pistols and fourteen rounds of live ammunition, one English Pistol, two televisions and pieces of jewellery, twenty Cell Phones and one Shovel.

In a bid to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents of the FCT, the command’s anti-kidnapping section while on clearance operation discovered a kidnapper den on the outskirts of the FCT.

After a proper search and cordon were conducted and in the process, one Anthony Udeh and Emmanuel Onuvu were arrested and they confessed to supplying Ammunition to armed robbers and bandits.

900 cartridges of live ammunition were recovered while several other items suspected to belong to victims of kidnapping incidents were also discovered.

The Commissioner of Police said that all the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation while urging the people of the FCT to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the Police emergency lines.
