Cricket Club Abuja – CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast Enters 3rd Week

…As 2nd Finalist Expected To Emerge on Sunday

The Cricket Club Abuja, CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast will enter its 3rd week of contests of this year’s Championship as the four participating teams play two matches tomorrow, Sunday, 11th of December, 2022 in Abuja’s CCA Cricket Oval at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

The four participating teams are the CCA Panthers, CCA Tigers, Millennium Challengers, and the Millennium Indians.

The tournament which commenced on Sunday, 27th of November, 2022 has already had four matches played over a period of two Sundays.

The first match of the CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast on Day 1 was between CCA Panthers and Millennium Challengers. Panthers won the toss and opted to bat first. At the end of 20 overs, the CCA Panthers scored 160 runs loosing 3 wickets and Millennium Challengers scored 48 runs for loss of 10 wickets in 16.2 overs.

Panthers won by 112 runs with Durotoye Gideon emerging man of the match with 5 wickets in 4 overs while conceding 9 runs.

The second Match of Day 1 of the CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast featured the
Millennium Indians vs the CCA Tigers.

The Millennium Indians won the toss and opted to bat first. At the end of 20 overs, Millennium Indians scored 134 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, while CCA Tigers scored 135 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 15.2 overs.

The CCA Tigers won by 4 wickets with Saad Tariq Butt emerging man of the match with 59 runs off 50 balls and 3 wickets in I. 4 overs while conceding 22 runs.

The second Sunday games of the tournament featured in game 3 of the tournament on Sunday, 4th of December, CCA Tigers vs CCA Panthers. The CCA Tigers won the toss and opted to bat first. At the end of 20 overs, CCA Tigers scored 150 with the loss of 9 wickets, while CCA Panthers scored 138 for the loss of 10 wickets in 19.2 overs. CCA Tigers won by 12 runs.

Subhradip Dey emerged man of the match with 39 runs off 29 balls, with 2 wickets from 4 overs.

Match 4 of the CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast on Sunday, 4th December, was between Millennium Indians and millennium Challengers.

Challengers won the toss and chose to field first. At the expiration of 20 overs, the Millennium Indians scored 159 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, while the Millennium Challengers scored 120 runs, losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

The Millennium Indians won by 39runs. Abhishek Patel was man of the match with 16 runs of 6 balls and 2 wickets in 4 overs while conceding 14 runs.

Action is expected to resume tomorrow, Sunday, 11th of December at the CCA Oval, Package B, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja at 8.30 am.

The first game of the day and 5th game of the Tournament will be between the CCA Panthers and the Millennium Indians. The second game of the day and 6th of the Tournament will be between the CCA Tigers and the Millennium Challengers at 12.30 pm.

The CCA Tigers have already qualified for the final game scheduled for Sunday, 18th December, 2022 with their win on Sunday, 4th December, regardless of the outcome of the scheduled games for Sunday, 11th December, 2022.

However, tomorrow’s first game between CCA Panthers and Millennium Indians will determine the 2nd finalist to challenge the CCA Tigers for the Champions of this year’s edition of the CCA/Olam Agri T20 Blast.

There is a huge Cash Price for winners of year’s Tournament sponsored by Olam Agri. The sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) will be at stake in the final game while various cash prizes have been won in games played so far and more cash prizes are still in the offering for players in the remaining games of the tournament.

The President of the Cricket Club Abuja, Mr. Regi George and his Executive Committee are expected to handover to a new Executive Committee headed by newly elected President, Mr. Oludare Aimola after the final game of the tournament on Sunday, 18th December, 2022 at the CCA Oval, Package B, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
