There was no time the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike stopped Dagogo Farah from appearing before the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party PDP screening panel.
The Executive Director of the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu while appearing on a national television program on Friday set the records straight stating that:
“There was no time Governor Wike stopped Hon Dagogo Farah from appearing before the PDP screening panel as wrongly reported on a tv channel rather it was the police that stopped him as he failed to submit himself to the police after being declared wanted.
During the chat, Dr. Nwambu recalled that on the “27th of April, some hoodlums popularly known as cultists had invaded the state PDP Secretariat apparently to unleash mayhem but they were checkmated by the police.
He explained that”17 suspects were accosted and after an exhaustive interrogation, 15 of the hoodlums admitted that they were sent by Dagogo, this was corroborated by Dagogo’s persistent phone calls to the Police pleading for the release of the boys arrested.
“Armed with this vital information, the Police invited him to the station but he declined. The Police went to his Degema home but he avoided the Police.
Towards the evening of Thursday 29th April, he showed up nicodimously at the Governorship screening venue and he was arrested at the order of the team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. He was arrested over criminal conspiracy and an attempt to cause mayhem and disturb the peace in the arena of the Legislative Houses screening.
Also, Dagogo appeared before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday where he was tried and the court did not consider bail based on the objection on jurisdiction raised by hid Counsel.
The Court ordered that he should be kept in police custody and adjourned the trial to 9th May 2022.
