DCP Umar To Act As EFCC Chairman

A Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Mohammed Umar has been appointed acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission following the suspension of Ibrahim Magu, who is being investigated for alleged corruption.

DCP Mohammed was Director of Operations at the anti-graft agency and has since assumed duties on Wednesday.

The Presidential Probe Panel on Corruption allegations against the suspended acting chairman of EFCC sat again yesterday.

Chaired by Justice Ayo Salami, the panel, which sat inside the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, specifically looked at sundry documents and chatted with persons connected to the case.

Access was again denied unauthorised persons at the premises, as Department of State Services (DSS) operatives manned the gate to provide watertight surveillance in the vicinity.
