DSS Confirms Doyin Okupe’s Arrest

The Department of the Secret Service has confirmed the re-arrest of Doyin Okupe.

According to the DSS Spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunanya, he said that Okupe was intercepted by the DSS at Terminal 1 of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos this morning, Thursday, 12th January 2023 at the instance of the EFCC.

“He has long been handed over to the Commission which requested for the action. Okupe was billed to fly to London via Virgin Atlantic, the statement said.

Recall the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, 19th December 2022 jailed Doyin Okupe, for two years with an option of fine.

In January 2019, the EFCC arraigned Mr. Okupe alongside two companies – Value Trust Investment Ltd and Abrahams Telecoms Ltd, over allegations of N702 fraud.

He was charged with 59 counts bordering on “money laundering and criminal diversion of funds” to the tune of N702 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), which was headed by Sambo Dasuki.
