The supply of Electricity to the two local governments in Ede and its environs will improve remarkably very soon as work progresses on the construction of the 60 MVA Ede Power substation which had been under construction since March 2011.
The member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun State in the National Assembly, Representative Bamidele Salam gave this assurance after a meeting with authorities of the Transmission Company of Nigeria in Abuja.
A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Strategic Communication to the lawmaker, Oladele Bamiji, disclosed that Representative Salam visited the corporate office of the Transmission Company of Nigeria yesterday and held a fruitful meeting with the Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, Eng. Victor Adewumi assured us that the company was doing all within its powers to complete the substation very soon.
The current epileptic power supply in Ede Community, according to Engr Adewumi, is complicated by the fact that the transmission is shared between the community and Ede water works.
He explained further that Ede, being one of the most rapidly expanding communities in Osun State, compounded pressure on the current transmission capacity of the substation serving the area.
While appealing to community leaders in Ede to continue to cooperate with the contractors handling the project, Representative Salam promised to offer all necessary legislative support to the project as well as other infrastructure to enhance the power supply in Ede.
Representative Salam thanked the TCN management for efforts being put in place to complete the substation with a promise that the community will liaise more with the contractors handling the project to offer necessary cooperation and monitoring.
