Engineer Sule Solicits Support For Families Of Fallen Heroes

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has solicited for support from Nigerians for the families of the country’s fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace and unity of the country.

Engineer Sule made the call during this year’s wreath laying ceremony marking the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, at the Government House, on Friday.

The Governor called for a renewed commitment on the part of Nigerians from all strata of life, towards providing succor to the families of the country’s fallen heroes.

He commended the efforts of the gallant fallen heroes, who paid the supreme price in protecting the territorial integrity of the nation, stressing that the families they left behind must be supported in order for them to take care of themselves and their family members.

While highlighting on the struggles of the gallant officers and men of the armed forces in upholding peace and unity of the country, the Governor advocated for collective efforts to reciprocate the gesture of the fallen heroes.

Also speaking, Chairman Nigerian Legioniares, Nasarawa State Chapter, Hamidu Almajiri appreciated the state government for its continued support to members of the legioniares.

Almajiri however appealed to the state government for a vehicle to enhance mobility, as well as enable members of the leggioniares carry out their activities with ease.

During the ceremony, Engineer Sule, assisted by the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd) and state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, each laid separate wreaths at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

The Governor afterwards released a number of white pigeons as a symbol of peace.

Meanwhile, prayers were offered for the peace and unity of the country, even as a military Chaplin and Imam, separately prayed for the success of both the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Engineer Abdullahi Sule.
