The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, on Monday 23rd January 2023, carried out a supervision and assessment tour of duty to the INEC Offices in Awgu, Aninri, Nkanu East Nkanu West, Oji-River and Udi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State. Others earlier visited includes those of Ezeagu and Uzo-Uwani LGAs as part of measures to upscale security and ensure maximum fortification of the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) facilities in Enugu State,

According to a press release signed by the Enugu State Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the Commissioner, while commending the Police and other security operatives on duty and the security measures emplaced by the INEC in most of the Offices visited, has charged the Operatives to remain firm, resolute and decisively deal with, as well as vehemently wade off any criminal incursions into the Offices. He notes that anything on contrary will not be accepted.

The CP has reassured the peace-loving people of Enugu State, particularly the electorate and stakeholders in the electoral circle, of the readiness of the Police and other security agencies to ensure that the forthcoming 2023 general elections in the State are conducted in an atmosphere of the public peace, security and safety before, during and after the period of the elections. This is even as he charges political gladiators in the State to remain civil and execute their electioneering activities by laying down rules and regulations.

The Commissioner further calls on the good people of the State to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive and promptly report all criminal activities that could impede the current seamless electoral process in the State, to the nearest Police Station. They can alternatively call the Command’s emergency hotlines on 08032003702, 08075390883, 08098880172, or 08086671202; or send emails to infoenugupolice@gmail.com.
