Enugu State Police Commissioner Receives PCRU And UNODC Team

Enugu State Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu on Friday, 22nd September, 2023, received a combined team of officials from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters Abuja and the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) in his Office, at the State Headquarters, GRA Enugu.

The team visited the Command on the approval of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to assess and establish a branch of the Police Complaints Response Unit (PCRU), to promptly handle complaints against Police Officers in the State.

Recall that on the 18th of August 2023, the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, ordered States Commissioners of Police to establish Complaint Response Units in their respective command, noting that the new development was due to his zeal to sanitize and standardize the police system for accountability and transparency in line with his commitment to fortify the complaints response mechanisms of the Force.

Egbetokun also approved the appointment of CSP El-Mustapha Sani as the Head, of CRU, following the posting of DCP Markus Basiran, as DC Homicide, Force Criminal Investigations Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
