The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja AIG Benneth C. Igweh, paid a one-day official visit to Niger State Police Command, today, 7th November, 2024.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, DSP M.B Abdulkadir, the AIG who was accompanied by his management team, were received by the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, psc, fsi and senior officers of the Command.
The AIG’s tour started with a visit the State Police Command Headquarters where he had a fruitful interactive session with stakeholders such as the PCRC, Community Safety Partnership, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder’s Association, Transport Unions and Religious leaders.
AIG Benneth in his remarks, assured the Command that he will convey the plight of the State to the Inspector General of Police.
He noted that he had carried out a series of operational activities in the State when he was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations in the Zone and the Commissioner of Police FCT Command. He asserted that he was familiar with the terrain and the challenge at hand, while he directed DPOs to train the Police Constables in their various formations on musketry/weapons handling as he announced that Constables have been granted permission to bear arms.
The AIG directed the officers on operational strategies to adopt to be above the challenges of manpower shortage. He assured the Command of more deployment of personnel to the State, most especially the new recruits at various training schools across the country, upon their completion of training and passing out. He encouraged stakeholders to mobilise more support for the security of the State.
The AIG also paid a courtesy call to His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Umar Mohammed Bago at the Government House Minna. AIG Igweh assured the State of more operational support to change the narrative.
He finally paid homage to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Minna Alh. Dr. Umar Faruk Bahago, CON in his palace before departing.
