Fayemi Aide Call Oyebanji Out On Non Payment Of Statutory Furniture Allowance, Tolu Ibitola Indicted

…. A Call For Payment of Our Furniture Allowance

It is necessary to write on the above subject matter. All appointees in JKF 2 were relieved of their various offices in July 2022. Before July 2022, the Chief of Staff, Mr Tolu said on different fora that the government had made cash ready for the payment of all appointees’ allowances. He went further that the cash was deposited in a special account for immediate disbursement. The severance allowance was paid before the expiration of JKF 2, while the furniture allowance has not been paid until nearly a year after the expiration of that tenure.

It’s a known fact that some appointees were given cars in lieu of their furniture allowance.

The furniture allowance is not a privilege or its payment subject to the discretion or good gesture of Mr Governor, it was in the contract of appointment approved by Mr Governor with his signature when he was the SSG.

This message becomes necessary now after many of the affected appointees had written or met with Mr . Governor without payment made to date I stand on the following to write:

Gov. Biodun Oyebanji

a. The demand made on the appointees’ salaries while in office didn’t give a chance for any reasonable savings to fall back to an outside office. The four months half salary during covid, additional deductions throughout 2021, funding of LG campaign, and other commitments at the ward.

b. Some of the JKF 2 appointees are going through serious financial challenges, which deny them regular medical checkups, (those that are 50+) payment for basic things.

c. Some of these appointees can restart their individual life with this furniture allowance if paid and this will go a long way to make life easier.

d. If there were no prior provisions in contrast to the position of the former Chief of Staff, the present administration has gotten higher monthly allocation from the federal government consistently and is in better stead to pay now when there are very few appointees.

d. In the spirit of good sportsmanship and to help save the struggling former appointees from family feuds caused by lack of money and inability to fulfil basic responsibilities at home, I do request Mr Governor to fulfil the contract he approved with his signature while he was the secretary of the state government.

Thanking Mr Governor in anticipation of his kindest response.

Yours faithfully,

Elder Oso Kayode Adeola,
Pioneer Special Assistant on Values Orientation.
