In line with the resolve of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba to improve the welfare of the police through the provision of comprehensive health care facilities, the Nigeria Police Medical Services, in conjunction with Stanley Medical Foundation, has flagged off free prostate screening and surgical intervention for over 500 police officers of the FCT Command.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sunday Babaji psc, thanked Stanley Medical Foundation and other sponsors for choosing FCT Police Command for the laudable initiative.
The CP also extended the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, and enjoined all police officers within the age brackets to avail themselves of this opportunity and go for the screening as a precautionary measure against prostate cancer.
“The initiative is commendable because this is the situation where our men will be screened and if they are found to have prostate cancer, there will be intervention, so we are happy with the organizers and I will encourage my men to go for the screening,” CP Sunday Babaji said.
Meanwhile, other dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Founder of Stanley Medical Foundation (SMF), Dr. Stanley Boniface, Hon. Shina Peller, Member of the House of Representatives, among others.
Consequently, the officers proceeded to the ultra-modern police hospital for the commencement of prostate screening as well as cholesterol and blood sugar testing.
