FG Present Tools To Digital Job Creation Trainees

As part of the implementation of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami has presented laptops with one year internet access to participants at the closing ceremony of Digital Job Creation Programme organised by the Ministry.

Speaking during  the ceremony at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Dr Pantami said, “Digital skills today is not optional but rather it is a necessity. The digital economy is dominating the world and making the traditional economy very irrelevant.

He further said that “The focus of the world today is no longer about certificates, but rather the skills you possess. I encourage you to be problem-solvers, propose disruptive solutions that can change the world”.

Pantami further called on the participants to be problem-solvers, utilize the skills that have acquired to propose disruptive solutions that can change the world, stressing that Nigerians are highly creative and innovative.

The Minister later presented laptop computers to participants of the Digital Job Creation Programme in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.

The main objective of program is to create digital wealth/job, develop digital skills, and promote the connection of underserved areas, schools, libraries and institutions to broadband Internet.

It is also aimed at developing training & professional programs to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship; provide & promote professional IT skills to community so that they are equipped with industry oriented quality education and training among others 

Meanwhile, in his goodwill message, the Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone, Professor Abubakar Muhammed lauded the Minister for walking the talk by making sure the job creation programme is realised.

Earlier in his opening remarks the Director of Information Communications Technology (ICT), Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Samuel Okoye urged participants to use the acquired digital skills to transform their businesses.

Okoye noted that the training had been able to develop the digital skills of participants in Iine with the objective of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS).

He advised the beneficiaries to use the skills learnt to better the Nigerian Society especially the digital space.

One of the participants Saheed Aiyegboka appreciated the Minister for the opportunity, stating that the skills
learnt will greatly impact his life.

Similarly, another participant Dorcas Bawa said that she has learned how to operate her business digitally, adding that the opportunity will propel her business exponentially in the internet space.
