……Assures citizens of safety ahead of 2023 general election
As part of its commitment to protecting the lives and property of the citizens, the Gombe State Police Command on the 24th of September 2022, through its tactical teams “coded”999 responded to a distress call by a good Samaritan that a gang of thugs (Kalare boys ) numbering about fifty from Abacha road and Bala mai Kwalta Street Jekadafari Quarters Gombe, armed themselves with a machete, daggers, sticks and other dangerous weapons blocked the roads linking to central roundabout terrorizing members of the public.
According to a press release signed by the Gombe State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, he said that on receipt of the distress call, the teams responded immediately, moved to the scene of crime and made effort to disperse the hooligans with the use of minimal force, but declined by the gang which resorted to attacks on the team which prompted the use of additional force on them.
The statement reads, “As a result, one of the thugs (kalare boys) and a woman who was a passerby sustained injuries and are presently responding to treatment at Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe.
“However, the Command wishes to warn all criminally minded individuals or groups against all forms of hooliganism and thuggery before during and after the electioneering activities in the state and any erring individual or groups will be dealt with accordingly.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ishola Babatunde Babaita psc, FDMSS reassures the Citizens of Gombe State to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of threat or molestation of any kind as the command is on top of the situation to ensure that where ever the miscreants are hiding will be flushed out, arrested and arraigned before the Court of competent jurisdiction.
