Gov Ortom Tasks Benue Youths To Be Focused, Determined
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has charged Benue youths not to lose focus on their set goals in life but be determined to conquer all challenges.
The Governor gave the charge Friday, April 15th, 2022 when he received a coalition of youth leaders from Benue State, led by Terrence Kuanum including two youngsters who won national and international laurels.
The Governor who recalled the challenges he faced while growing up said he never allowed the frustrations of life to distract him even when the odds seemed to be against him.
He said rather than being discouraged, he was determined to break through because he held unto God and was focused on what he had set out to achieve.
Governor Ortom stressed that his administration is determined to nurture creative ideas of Benue youths to enable them to make impact in the society.
The Governor then directed the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor who is heading the committee for implementation of the recommendations from the Benue Youth Summit to identify some of them that have talents to be supported by the Government.
Governor Ortom stated that he was very proud of the youths for being resilient, hard working and supportive of his administration and charged them to remain focused so that they could have successful lives.
He pointed out that just like himself who started life from the scratch and went through very difficult situations but remained steadfast in the service of God who has made him to succeed in everything his hands touched, anybody can succeed with the right approach.
The Governor who expressed joy for being a source of inspiration to many young people due to his decent lifestyle, appealed to them to shun all forms of evil vices and criminality to avoid creating problems for themselves.
He also asked the youth leaders to deliberate and send in suggestions on how best a consensus candidate will be picked among the array of aspirants for the governorship seat ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Earlier, President of Benue Youth Forum, Mr. Terence Kuanum thanked Governor Ortom for giving Benue youths the opportunity to participate in his Government at various levels, saying it has demonstrated the desire of the Governor to see them succeed.
Mr. Kuanum also appreciated the Governor for his open mindedness, which has seen some youths emerge as consensus candidates at various elective positions in the PDP, noting that what he has done has began the process of bridging the gap between the present and future.
