Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has received the first Nigerian Military officer to be President, Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OMSA), Brig. General Abdullahi Maikano on a courtesy visit at Niger Lodge, Abuja.
Governor Sani Bello commended the Military officer for attaining the first position in OMSA and promised to give necessary support to the organization in the area of logistics and otherwise.
The Governor while acknowledging the role of sports as a unifying factor in the unity, growth, and development of any society, pointed out that with the leadership now in Nigeria, OSMA will go a long way in building bridges.
OMSA was founded in 1914 as a Military sporting body in conjunction with the ideals of the International Military Sports Council for a short season but became operational in 2008.
The organization with the motor ” friendship through sports” has been headed by French-speaking Nations since its inception, until last year in October, when an Officer from an English-speaking country, Nigeria in particular won the election to emerge the President.
