…..Attends Funeral Prayer ( Janazah) of the Late Jurist
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe) has expressed grief over the death of the first Grand Khadi of Gombe State and elder statesman, Hon. Justice Khadi Yahaya Ahmed who died in the early hours of today in Gombe at the age of 88.
In a press release on Thursday, 16th December, 2021 signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Gombe Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, he said that Governor Inuwa Yahaya who was among hundreds of sympathisers who attended the funeral prayer (Janaza) of the late octogenarian, held at Jekadafari Juma’at Mosque, described the late jurist and Islamic scholar as a highly respected statesman and illustrious son of Gombe State who contributed tremendously to the growth of the justice system in Nigeria.
The Governor condoled with the family members and associates of the deceased as well as Gombe Emirate and people of Gombe State, noting that the late Ahmed was a father, mentor, and Islamic scholar who lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.
The Governor noted that “Death is inevitable, and as a people of faith, we believe that every living person shall die one day; we all wait for our appointed times.
“The late retired grand Khadi lived a humble and peaceful life, and left behind great legacies that will continue to benefit people”, he added.
The Governor prayed almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.
The Late Hon. Khadi Yahaya Ahmed was born in 1933 in Gombe. He joined the Judiciary in 1958 as Mufti (Islamic Legal Adviser to Alkali) and rose to the level of Acting grand Khadi in the defunct Bauchi State. He became the first Grand Khadi of Gombe State in 1996 upon the creation of the state, the position he held until his retirement in 1998. He also served as Deputy Chairman, Jam’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Gombe State and the Chief Imam of Jekadafari Central Mosque, Gombe.Â
