Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, represented by his Deputy, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso Thursday, received in the audience, a delegation from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, at the Government House in Minna.
The Acting Director of Humanitarian Affairs Department of the Ministry, Suleman Abubakar who led the delegation said they were in the state to access the humanitarian crisis caused by the insecurity and also bring food and relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Among the items the delegation brought were 600 bags of rice, 200 kegs of oil, 50 wraps of clothing, and other relief materials while planning to physically visit the IDP camps to assess the numbers and areas that need further action.
He assured the readiness of the Ministry under the Minister, Hajiya Sa’adiya Umar Faruq to assist the IDP to cushion the hardship faced by them.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Deputy Governor Ahmed Ketso welcomed the guests to Niger State for the visit, he said the ministry had done a good job by impacting on the well-being of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) through their intervention and empowerment programmes.
He called on the delegation to holistically assess the condition of the camp, the IDP’S and make a sincere report of their findings.
He also assured them of Governor Sani Bello’s zero tolerance for insecurity, adding that the administration will do everything possible to protect its people and give them the comfort they deserve.
