The programme, according to him, was designed to teach youths various entrepreneurial skills such as Social Media Marketing; business communication Skills; business plan Writing; Accessing Business Financing; and Export Management Opportunities among others.

The chairman, of the House Committee on Public Account further said as lawmakers, one of their constitutional roles is to make laws and facilitate programmes that will have a positive impact on the lives of constituents.

The lawmaker noted he facilitated human capital training for the youths of his constituency to expose them to different opportunities within the public and private sectors to grow their businesses.

He further said that the programme will provide an opportunity to bridge the gap between various government agencies that have products and services that can leverage participants.

He noted that all invited people are highly experienced and core professionals in various businesses who have the right information and channels that would assist the beneficiaries in the business.

“The programme is meant to develop human capital to build up people in a manner that makes them live purposeful lives. Many things are happening within the public and private sectors that we need our young people to know about and be able to key into them.

“We also use this opportunity to bridge the gap between various government agencies that have products and services which our people in the Federal Constituency can leverage on, the Cooperate Affairs Commission, Bank of Industries, Bank of Agric and so many organizations that have a lot of products that they developed to help young entrepreneurs. Bringing them together in a programme like this will offer them the opportunity to hear it and have first-hand information from the organizations and also key into the opportunity available to start and grow their various businesses.

“The work of the National Assembly is to make laws, we are the ones that make the laws that established all of the organizations, Nigerian External Promotion Council and Bank of Agriculture are all products of the law but it’s one thing to make those laws, established all those agencies by law is another thing for the people to key into what is available.

One of the resource persons, Tunde Olatunji, charged Nigerians to develop a value chain of agriculture to create more job opportunities.

Olatunji said, the country is blessed in terms of resources, particularly the land and there was a need for Nigerians especially youths to key into it, urging them to embrace farming as a panacea to the unemployment menace.
