I Have No Objection To The Deployment Of 5G Technology In Nigeria – Pantami

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Ali Pantami has called on Nigerians to desist from the habit of spreading fake news and false narratives about innovative technologies, stressing that, the primary responsibility of government is to protect lives and property.

Pantami went further to assure Nigerians that under his watch, scientifically proven destructive technologies will not be deployed in the country.

The Minister made this known today when he received a delegation from the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, led by the Ambassador, Mr Ketil Karlsen on an official visit.

The EU team was at the communications and digital economy complex, Abuja to share insight with the Minister regarding the 5G technology and its benefits to provide a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Nigeria. The meeting was part of strategic dialogue with close partners.

In his remarks, Dr Pantami said, “I have no objection to the deployment of 5G technology in Nigeria, but we will work hard to engage with Nigerians to enlighten them on the benefits of the technology. Adding that, we will also allow experts in the field to come up with their recommendations”.

Pantami informed that all stakeholders and also security agencies were carried along during the initial trial of 5G technology carried out in Nigeria.
