A high-level delegation from the Dubai Police was received by Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun on Wednesday at Force Headquarters in Abuja. This was a major milestone in promoting multifaceted security collaboration between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The IGP stressed during the meeting how crucial cooperation is to ensuring the safety and protection of citizens from both countries. He pointed out that many Nigerians live, work, and conduct business in Dubai, while many UAE nationals do the same in Nigeria. As a result, increased cooperation is necessary to protect the interests of the citizens of both countries.
In his capacity as the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO) Chairman, the IGP emphasised the strategic significance of this visit in bolstering policing partnerships throughout the West African region, not just between Nigeria and Dubai.
He also pledged to utilise this opportunity to promote enhanced security collaborations that will benefit the sub-region as a whole.
The Dubai Police delegation, led by Brigadier General Adel Ahmad Moosa Sanqoor, Assistant of the General Director of Criminal Investigations, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated their commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Police Force in the various areas of mutual interest, including intelligence sharing, joint training programs, and technological advancements in policing.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to deepen security ties and explore new avenues for cooperation, aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of citizens in both countries and across the West African region.
