Imo State CP Interfaces With Leaders Of The Communities Where Police Stations Were Burnt

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede has interfaced with Traditional Rulers, President Generals and Youth Leaders of the affected areas on Monday, 2nd November 2020, sequel to the civil unrest which arose after the ENDSARS protests, resulting to the burning / destruction of some police stations in Imo State.

In a press release signed by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, he said that the meeting with the traditional rulers, the Commissioner of Police recalled all that happened during and after ENDSARS protest and decried the level of destructions witnessed in the stations which he said was uncalled for.

He however promised them that though the police stations of the areas has been razed down, the police will never allow the hoodlums have a field day, as the command is making arrangement to ensure the safety and security of lives and properties in the affected areas.

The CP further sorts for the synergy and partnership of the Ezes in ensuring that the various communities are secured. He also charged them never to allow such destruction happen in their areas again, as the stations belong to the communities and not to the Police Officers therein.

The Commissioner of Police decried the rate at which youths take laws into their hands and warns all community stakeholders to warn their children/warn not to allow themselves to be used to neither foment trouble nor cause mischief in any part of the state.

The traditional rulers in their response, regretted all that happened after the peaceful protests and appealed to the Commissioner of Police not to allow men of the underworld to take over the roads and their communities. They unanimously promised to assist the police in any way possible to ensure that policing returns to their various areas especially now that yuletide period is fast approaching.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police held same meeting with the President Generals and Youth Leaders of the affected communities, where they all pledged to partner with Police in protecting their various communities and promised never to allow such incidents happen again, they unanimously request the return of Police officers in their areas to make for security of lives and properties.
