Kwara Police Commissioner Meets With Union Of Transporters Over Recent Disruption In The Transport Services In Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Commissioner, CP Victor Olaiya on Friday 6th Sept. 2024 met with representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) at the command headquarters following the strike action embarked on 5th September 2024 in response to the recent hike in the price of PMS also known as petrol.

According to a press release on Sunday, 8th September 2024 signed by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that during the meeting, the Commissioner of Police alongside his management team, Alh Aliyu Muyideen the SSA Security to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRaham AbdulRazaq; the CP admonished the transport unions to uphold peace always, emphasizing that Kwara State is known for its harmonious, peace-loving nature.

He reassured the union that the Federal Government is actively addressing the current economic situation to improve the lives of all Nigerians.

The Commissioner of Police, also encouraged the transport unions to channel any concerns, particularly regarding security, through their Chairmen.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation, assuring them that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, stands in full support of their well-being and is ready to assist them in all matters.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the continued safety and prosperity of all residents in Kwara State.
