The Integrity Youth Alliance has called on the House of Representatives to allow the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) concentrate on its TAPE Agenda for the Oil and Gas Industry.
The call was made by the National Coordinator of the Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga in Abuja on Wednesday while responding to a publication titled “Reps query NNPC over non-remittances by subsidiaries.”
“It is on record that since the assumption of office, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari has continued to reiterate his commitment to conducting the business and operations of the Corporation in a transparent manner, with a view to placing it on the path of profitability, Adegbenga said.
“Since he assumed office, he had taken calculated steps to ensure more openness in the activities of the Corporation and the Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence (TAPE) agenda has brought about greater transparency and accountability in NNPC’s management of Nigerian oil and gas revenues to date.
“So far, some of the successes recorded under the TAPE agenda include the publication of the 2018 and 2019 NNPC Audited Financial Statements (AFS).
The Alliance called on the House of Representatives to join hand with Mallam Mele Kyari for more openness in the activities of the Corporation
It will be recalled that the House of Representatives on Tuesday expressed displeasure over non-remittances of revenue to the Federations Account by subsidiaries of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
“The NNPC has been publishing the Monthly Financial and Operation Report of the Corporation with April Report published on the 13th of April, 2021 which saw NNPC recording 37.21% drop in Pipeline vandalism in January as well as increase in Gas Supply for Power Generation.
“The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari should be commended for blocking all revenue leakages within the Corporation statement concluded.
