Kyari Performs Traditional Naming Ceremony Of Two LPG Vessels

The Group Chief Executive of NNPC Ltd, Mal Mele Kyari alongside other top Management performed the traditional naming ceremony in Hyundai MIPD Dockyard ULSAN for two LPG vessels built for West Africa Gas Ltd WAGL; a joint venture company between NNPC and Ocean Bed.

Speaking at the occasion, the GMD/CEO said the development was part of NNPC Ltd’s efforts at growing its fleet, increasing shareholder value, and enhancing gas penetration while supporting cleaner energy utilization.

The two vessels are named MT SAPET in honour of a partnership between WAGL and Côte d’Ivoire and MT BARUMK in honour of the Late GMD of NNPC Dr. M. K. Baru.

The Lady sponsors at the ceremony are Mrs. Shonubi and Mrs. M.K. Baru for MT SAPET Gas and MT BARUMK Gas, respectively.

The Ambassador of Nigeria to Korea HE Aliyu Magashi; Chairman, Sahara Group and Director of WAGL, Mr. Temitope Shonubi; Chairman WAGL and GED Gas & Power, Abdulkabeer Ahmed; and GED Upstream, Engr Adokiye and other dignitaries blessed the occasion.

The ship naming ceremony was held at the shipyard to commemorate the two new vessels that will sail out in June and September 2022.
