The Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mustapha Habib Ahmed has taken delivery of relief food items donated to the Federal Republic of Nigeria following the recent flood disaster by the united Arab Emirates Aid
A Bushames cargo Airline which transported the relief materials arrived the General Aviation Terminal wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 1.15pm on Friday 11 November 2022 and was received by the representative of the Director General NEMA, Dr Onimode Bandele Director Special Duties NEMA on behalf of the Federal Government.
In his remark, the NEMA DG appreciated the kind gesture from the Government and people of United Arab Emirates especially when efforts are being made by the Nigerian Government to support the populace in relief and recovery in communities that were devastated by the flood.
He conveyed the appreciation of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq over the donation and assured that the items would be distributed to the target beneficiaries.
The UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Fahad Altaffaq who presented the items on behalf of the Government of the UAE said the gesture to support those affected by the flood disaster is in solidarity with Nigeria due to the existing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The representative of Director General of NEMA was joined by Director Search and Rescue, NEMA Air Commodore E Adedokun, Ambassador Mustapha Tunde, Director Regions Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some senior staff of the Agency in receiving the donation. Also present at the Airport were officials of the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service and other relevant agencies.
The items donated are made up of food and and nonfood items.
The ambassador promised more of such donations in no distant time.
