The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has commended the Nigeria Football Federation for using football to curb crime and criminality in Nigeria.
The IGP made the commendation when he received Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and his Board of Directors at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
”I look forward to a more robust relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation; the Nigeria Police will work with you to develop sports in Nigeria, the IGP said.
In his response, Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau said they were at the Force Headquarters to see more support from the Nigerian police to secure playing ground, especially during the local league.
“We want to call on the IGP to consider many young footballers to join the Nigeria Police, as this will afford the Nigeria Police, ‘Police Machine.’ Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau stated that the Nigeria Police would have a formidable football team.
He further told the IGP that the NFF will need the services of the police personnel to manage the football stadium security in line with the FIFA security requirements.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of Nigeria’s latest jersey to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
