The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger Council has pledged to support Alhaji Umar Bago, the sixth democratically elected governor of the state.
This is contained in a congratulatory message from the state Chairman of the union, Mr Abu Nmodu, and signed by the council Secretary, Mr Usman Chiji on Tuesday in Minna.
Nmodu assured the new governor of the support and cooperation of members of the union in the state.
He emphasized the need for a more vibrant media engagement to ensure a robust relationship and communication with the union and the people.
The chairman stated that the relationship would enhance the rapid development of the state.
“The inauguration of Bago is another chapter in the journey for the massive socioeconomic development of Niger.
“The energy of the new governor is reassuring and the people expect so much from his government,” he said.
Nmodu said his qualities are a pointer to a renewed hope for infrastructural development as said in his inaugural speech.
“The union is optimistic of a brighter future for the citizens if the new governor operates an open door policy and engages the citizens of the state constructively, “he said.
He hoped that the long-standing relationship with the union would be sustained for the effective dissemination of his policies and programmes.
“Our good relationship will no doubt help in fast-tracking the development of Niger as we progress,” he said.
He described the new governor as a media-friendly politician, a renowned goal-getter, and a link between aspiration and fulfillment.
Nmodu expressed optimism that with the right team, mindset, and most importantly prayers, the governor would record the desired achievements for the people of the state. (NAN)
