Niger State NLC/TUC Calls Off Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Niger have called of its ongoing seven-day strike in the state.

Civil Servants are to resume work on Wednesday 9th Dec. 2020.

It will be recalled that while speaking to journalists Friday in Minna, the Niger State government through the Commissioner for Finance had appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to embrace dialogue and understanding by calling off its ongoing strike for the growth and development of the state.

It will also be recalled that the NLC and TUC led by Mr Yakubu Garba, the State Chairman, NLC held a meeting with the government team on Saturday night and agreed that the October salaries of Local Government workers be paid.

They also demanded that the state government remit corporative deductions to workers and 80 civil servants dismissed from service be re-instated.

Garba said that government was given up to the end of December this year to pay 30 per cent salary deductions (deferment) made in June including the 30 and 35 per cent cut in November salaries this year.
