Nigeria Army Host Gender Mainstreaming Workshop

In line with building the capacity for officers and men of the Nigeria Army, particularly as assigned missions within the joint environment becomes complex, increasingly expanding and dynamic, the Nigeria Army has held a Gender Mainstreaming For Enhanced Professionalism in the Military.

The workshop is a sensitisation initiative jointly conducted by the AHQ DCMA and British Defense Section West Africa as approved by the COAS.

The exercise have been held so far at AHQ Gar, HQ 81 Div, HQ 1 Div, HQ 3 Div and HQ 2 Div.

The Chief of Army Staff recently approved the Second phase of the Workshop and it has kickstarted at the 8 Div of the Nigeria Army.

Participants have been drawn from security agencies and relevant Civil Society Organisations in each and every one of the conducted sessions.

Take aways have been so assuring, as Participants always show enthusiasm, knowledge acquisition and better understanding of the subject modules which includes, Operationalizing Gender, Nigeria Army Policy on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights amongst others.

Persons in attendance include Military and para military agencies include, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Airoforce, NDLEA, DSS, FRCN, IMMIGRATION, NPF, Breakthrough Action NIG,Federal Fire Service, Civil Defence Corps, National Population Commission
