Nigeria Is On Track For The Deployment The 5G – Pantami
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy says Nigeria is on track for the deployment the 5th generation network after carrying out relevant research and consultations with stakeholders.
Pantami gave this assurance at a one day investigative hearing on the present status of 5G Network in Nigeria and its technological impact on Nigerian Citizens.
Meanwhile, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawn who declared the public hearing opened said that the essence of the hearing therefore is to investigate how the 5G technology would ensure the deployment of telecommunication services to our people to enable us stand on a better knowledge pedestal, ahead of the deployment of the technology.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy ,said based on research carried out with the collaboration of relevant stakeholders, a draft national policy framework is being processed to be forwarded to the Federal Executive Council for approval as this will paved the way for the deployment of the 5G Network.
The office of the National Security Adviser however has some security concerns.
The Minister allayed the fears of both the NSA and Nigerians that the 5G technology is safe, has no health implications and only certified equipment will be approved for use.
The onus now lies with the Nigeria Communication Commission to sensitize Nigerians on the opportunities the 5G network offers as well as provide regulatory framework to guide its implementation in Nigeria.
