NITDA Has Moved From IT-centric To Digital-centric – Kashifu Abdullahi

The National Information Technology Development Agency has shifted from IT-centric to digital-centric which includes a new logo, new vision, new mission, and new core values. 

This was revealed by the Agency’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi during the rebranding and commissioning of projects at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) corporate headquarters, Abuja on Monday, 17th August, 2020.

Kashifu said that the brand intent is to be a game-changer in the culture, mindset, and public perception of the Agency because for NITDA to implement National Digital Economy Policy, the agency need to be digital and smart Agency.

Among other projects commissioned includes; New Digital Center, which houses Integrated Computer Emergency Response and Readiness Center aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s national cybersecurity, Digital Multimedia Studio for Online Digital Skills and Literacy Capacity Building, and Digital Conference Room for Remote Collaboration.

The design of the picturesque structure was approved in 2018 and awarded in 2019 including the new Block C and the remodeling of the entire building just before Dr Pantami was elevated to Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

The execution and completion of the project was completed within a year.

In his remark, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami said, “The reason behind changing the agency’s logo is that the world’s IT has changed from ICT to digital economy. So the current logo encompasses the change.”

“Recently,168 participants took part in a competition organised by Head of Service. With all sense of humility, the ministry of Communications and Digital Economy took the first, second and third positions.” Dr. Pantami said,

He further said, “The Computer Emergency Response and Readiness Centre is in alignment with the key priority area of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari administration aimed at enhancing the security of the Nation.”

Dignitaries at the event include the NITDA Chairman Governing Board, Dr Abubakar Sa’idu; Managing Director of NICOMSAT, Dr Abimbola Alale; The EVC of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umar Garba Danbatta; The Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Project Commissioning, Ag. Executive Secretary USPF, Mr Ayuba Shu’aibu and Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone Limited,Prof. M.B Abubakar.
