NNPC Ltd Signs MoU With Chinese Company

An agreement was made this Thursday in Beijing, China, between NNPC Limited and China Engineering & Machinery Corporation (CMEC) to co-finance the Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant (GIPP) Phase-1 Project.

NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President, Gas Power & New Energy, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye and Chairman of CMEC Nigeria, Mr. Zhang Daguang, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.

One of the main anchor projects of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, which is in accordance with Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan infrastructure blueprint, is the 350MW GIPP Phase 1 Project, sometimes referred to as the Abuja IPP.

When the GIPP Phase 1 Project is completed, it should increase the production of electricity, generate employment, lessen gas flaring, and promote industrial growth.
