NNPC Will Support Shell’s 225,000 BPD FPSO Production At Bonga Field

To shorten the turnaround time for the planned Turn Around Maintenance of its operated Bonga Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited SNEPCo have reaffirmed its support for improving accommodation provision for offshore personnel. This support was previously expressed by the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), the investment arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

The FPSO is a ship with a daily capacity of 225,000 barrels. This assistance would shorten the facility’s production downtime timeframe.

The deep-water activities of SNEPCo are regarded as the best in a class by NAPIMS.

SNEPCo established deep-water oil and gas production in Nigeria at Bonga, a project that, when it started producing in 2005, increased Nigeria’s oil capacity by 10%.

The 120-kilometer-offshore Bonga lies in water more than 1,000 metres deep across an area of 60 square kilometres.

SNEPCo established deep-water oil and gas production in Nigeria at Bonga, a project that, when it started producing in 2005, increased Nigeria’s oil capacity by 10%.
In water more than 1,000 metres deep and covering an area of 60 square kilometres, Bonga is situated 120 kilometres offshore.

It is capable of producing 150 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and more than 200,000 barrels of oil per day.

Mr Bala Wunti, group general manager of NAPIMS, reaffirmed this support while leading his leadership team on an inspection of the SNEPCo-operated FPSO vessel.

According to Wunti, Shell is one of the best corporations on the planet. He also stated that NAPIMS will help improve the housing options for SNEPCo’s offshore employees to speed up the scheduled Turn Around Maintenance of the vessel with a capacity of 225,000 barrels per day. This, he claimed, would shorten the time of the production outage.
Want to said that “there is a difficulty of people on board on FPSOs which influences the speed of execution across the industry in Nigeria.”

Wunti praised the remarkable congruence between Bonga operations and NNPC’s core values of quality, compliance, speed of execution, and safety.

Since these principles are shared, it should be simple for leaders to immediately agree on the “What” and “Why,” even if there are disagreements.

He urged SNEPCo to continue being receptive to technical recommendations from NNPC to foster stronger cooperation and enhance performance. “SNEPCo should test these proposals when they are made, and if they don’t work, throw them out thereafter.”
Impressed by the extremely low flare in Bonga operations, Wunti recommended more operations improvement to reach zero flares, noting that NNPC gave ISO certification, equipment inspections, disciplined execution, and cost excellence top attention.

When showing the NAPIMS team through the plant, SNEPCo’s managing director, Mrs Elohor Aiboni, stated that SNEPCo’s continual improvement focus had contributed to maintaining a high-performance level for Bonga, Nigeria’s first deep offshore vessel.

We are creating a deep-water business that is secure, straightforward, and cost-conscious that adds value for our shareholders, partners, and Nigeria, which is still a developing nation.
