NorthEast Governors Collaborating Areas Of Common Interest, Gombe Deputy Governor

…….Says collaboration with AUDA/NEPAD, good omen for the zone

The Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D says Northeast State Governors are collaborating on areas of common interest with a view to moving the zone to greater heights.

In a press release on Friday, 16th July, 2021 signed by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Media and Publicity (Deputy Governor’s Office), Jack A. Tasha, he said that the Deputy Governor disclosed this when the Member, National General Council, Africa Union Development Agency/ New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Dr. Louis Mandama led a delegation to his office on a courtesy visit.

The Deputy Governor said the collaboration between the Governors of the Northeast has yielded the formation of Joint Committee on peace known as Numan Peace Accord which aimed at bringing reconciliation amongst Lunguda and Waja in Gombe and Adamawa states to douse tension that existed in recent past, towards lasting peace in the area.

He informed the delegation of steps taken by the state government to mitigate effects of climate change and dwindling health and educational fortunes, to include introduction of Gombe Goes Green, and declaring a state of emergency in the education sector to overhaul the entire socioeconomic system towards better and improved livelihood.

The Deputy Governor intimated them that the average Gombe man has a penchant to always be first in any meaningful venture, hence the slogan (Gombawa diban fari) translated as Gombe first in everything.

He solicited for the support of AUDA/ NEPAD by pointing out possible areas that need to be corrected in meeting yearning and aspirations of the people, pledging on the part of government to always listen to them towards bettering the lives of the people.

Speaking earlier, the Member, National General Council, African Union Development Agency/ New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Dr. Louis Mandama commended the Government of Gombe State for strides and feats achieved in touching the lives of people in the state.

Dr. Louis Mandama also commended the proactive measures taken by the Government on construction of drainages to mitigate effects of erosion resulting from perennial flooding.

He conveyed the appreciation of the Secretary to the Government of Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha, who is the Federal Focal Person and appealed to the state government for more support to AUDA/NEPAD towards achieving the desired goal of transforming the lives of the people.

The delegation was received in company of the Secretary to the state Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi who is the state focal person, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Planning and Development Partner Coordination Office, Dr. Ishiaku Mohammed, and the Director- General Federal Government Relations Bureau, Gombe, Mr. Nuhu Sada Laumara , among others.
