According to a press release signed by the Osun State Command Civil Defence PRO, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, the following day, Monday, November 20 20, 2024, they were caught in the act of vandalising the railway at Dagbolu, Osun State. One of the suspects was arrested, while the second one is still at large.
In his confessional statement, the suspect made it known that his friend Abbey taught him how to remove the Pandrol clips; thereafter, they sold them to metal scrap buyers in the state.
The Commandant of NSCDC in the state, Igbalawole Sotiyo, who frowned at the increasing rate of national asset vandalism in the country, therefore, called on the metal scrap buyers in the state to desist from buying vandalised materials from members of the public, saying his men shall embark on routine operations round the stores of metal scrap buyers in the state, and anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
He also commended members of the public for being security conscious, saying the arrest was made possible through the efforts of residents of Dagbolu. Commandant Sotiyo solicited more intelligence from the public to make the state safe for all and sundry.
