Okupe Resigns As Director-General Of The ObiDatti Campaign Organisation

Dr. Doyin Okupe has resigned as the Director General of the Obi-Datti campaign.

In a letter confirmed by Swift Reporters on Tuesday, it reads, “Dear Peter, You will recall that I briefed you yesterday about my travails in seeking justice and clearing my name using the Nigerian Legal System to pursue same.

“I have invested too much in your campaign to allow my travails to become a source of distraction.

“In the circumstances, I have opted to step aside and plead that you appoint a new Campaign DG who can continue the assignment with zero distractions.

“God bless you and your family. Doyin

Recall that Dr. Doyin Okupe was on Monday convicted of breaching the Money Laundering Act by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The LP chieftain was subsequently sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

But the presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, however, gave an option of N500, a 000 fine on each of the 26 count charges, totaling N13m for which he was found guilty.

Dr. Okupe paid the fine of N13 million to beat the 4:30 pm deadline.
