Ondo State Commissioner Of Police Orders Officers To Be Active, Proactive In Their Performance

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Salami Amidu Bolaji says there may never be enough research to satisfy everybody in any place with the question of Policing, but speaking from the point of view of an expert, and in terms of developing strategies to combat the “perceived” growing insecurity in Ondo State since the #ENDSARS saga and the season we are in, the Command must be active, proactive to create the maximum security of lives and property.

In a press release signed by Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, he said that the CP said this during an impromptu but very crucial conference held with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments and Heads of Tactical units in the Command.

According to him, the motive for organizing the meeting is to restrict the variance in our behavioural characteristics towards our disposition to work, and to inform the Command of the Inspector-General of Police’s order that we must completely take over the security space of the country.

CP Salami said we organized this meeting to achieve an interdependence which will enable us to control mutually beneficial common goals in the security architecture of Ondo State.

“It is everyone’s contention that we have abdicated our responsibilities to others, when we should actually be seen as constituting the Zenith of the internal security of Ondo State, and because some of us are not doing what is expected of us, we try to explain in futility what we are, and in some cases begin to blame our tools because we are lazy. But to avoid all of these, and to me in particular, what is important is to create a good relationship with the community and people we police. This is the only way to achieve respect, honour and resounding successes in our Area of Responsibility”

CP Salami further said though the days ahead may be extremely tempting, but still we can overcome it, if we put our acts together.

He also told every officer in the Command to see himself or herself as the gate protecting the lives and property of citizens in the State, saying if we allow it to fall, then the rest of us and the people will fall with it, since we are the hope of the people for a secured environment, but pray we keep watching over it, so that the people will rejoice with us.

He particularly admonished the DPOs to be cautious with the way they treat the people they police as they are the mirror of the Nigeria Police before the people.

CP Amidu Bolaji also said our ability as Police officers to control the security space gives us the control over crimes and criminality in the State and especially with the yuletide periods our on our hands, we must be up and doing at all times. He therefore urged every officer of the Command to see policing his beat as a priority of concern while urging the good people of Ondo State to assist in giving useful and factual information to the Police.

In another development, CP Salami has paid a condolence visit to the family of the slain Monarch of Ifon, Late Oba Adeusi.

Eulogizing the great quality and legacy of the late Oba, CP Salami said those who criminally caused the gruesome death of the Oba will not go unpunished, promising the Chiefs and indigenes of Ifon that his Command will do everything to ensure those who assassinated the first- class King is brought to justice.
