The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said that the upgraded Computer Emergency Response and Readiness Team built by the National Information Technology Development Agency will reduce further attacks and make Nigeria’s cyberspace safer.
The Minister stated this on Monday at the official commissioning of newly constructed NITDA’s Complex-Building
Dr Pantami also assured Nigerians of the safety of the Nation’s cyber-security space.
He said that Digital security was imperative to achieve an efficient digital economy in view of the new norm brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, he said
The Minister said the centre which is fully equipped to handle emergencies and other concerns as part of the efforts of achieving the focal point of President Buhari which are hinged on security, anti-corruption and economic development.
The Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi said agency was poised to enhance the digital economy sector as it would check unemployment and poverty.
The Chairman of the NITDA Board, Mallam Abubakar Saidu described the launch of the centre as laudable and commended the synergy of the various departments and agencies under the ministry.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Professor Garba Danbatta, Managing Director Galaxy Backbone, Abdullahi Aliyu and MD NIGCOMSAT, Mrs Abimbola Alale all pledged to support and cooperation in repositioning the digital economy sector through dedication and focus.
