As part of an effort to enhance transparency and accountability, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami on Friday commissioned several projects which are aimed at enhancing digital literacy and skills, promoting ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship, among others.
The projects commissioned include;
1. ICT Incubation Park, Gombe State University;
2. IT Community Centre, Tudun Wada; and
3. Nigerian Communications Satellite Systems regional office.
In his remarks during the commissioning of the ICT Incubations Park, Dr Pantami encouraged the beneficiaries of the project to ensure the centres are put to optimal use.
He reiterated that in today’s global world, possessing skills are better than paper qualifications.
“If you look at the ICT giants today, you will realize that they are not after certificates, rather they are after the skills you possess, Pantami said.
He went further to say that “producing graduates with skills, by implication you are producing potential employers. Because graduates with skills will focus more on entrepreneurship while producing graduates without skills, we are producing potential employees”.
