Pantami To Commission Digital Economy Projects

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami will on Thursday, 23rd July 2020 commission completed projects under the digital economy sector located across the country.

The Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria Communication Commission, Nigeria Communication Satellite and Universal Service Provision Fund are the major agencies whose various projects will be Commission.

The projects which will be commissioned virtually include;

  • Tertiary Institutions Knowledge Centre, Enugu State;
  • The Nigeria Communication Satellite North West Regional Office, Kaduna State;
  • IT Community Centre, Katsina State;
  • IT Hub Kaduna State;
  • Information Technology Hub, Lagos State;
  • Emergency Communication Center, Kaduna

The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy is a Ministry created in 2011 as Ministry of Communication Technology. It was created to foster a knowledge based economy and information society in Nigeria. The Ministry was created to facilitate ICT as a key tool in the transformation agenda for Nigeria in the areas of job creation, economic growth and transparency of governance.

The Mission of the Ministry is to facilitate universal, ubiquitous and cost effective access to communications infrastructure throughout the country. Promote the utilization of ICT in all spheres of life to optimize the communications infrastructure – digital content creation, domestic software applications and the delivery of private and public services over the internet. Promote and facilitate the development of the ICT industry and increase the contribution of the ICT industry to GDP. Utilize ICT to drive transparency in governance and improve the quality and cost effectiveness of public service delivery in Nigeria.
