Plateau Massacre: NEMA Deploys Team; Offers Immediate Assistance To Affected Families

In the wake of the regrettable attacks on a few communities in the Plateau State local government areas of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has dispatched a team to expeditiously assess the situation and offer prompt assistance to the bereaved, injured, and displaced families.

The NEMA rapid response team comprised of Directors from headquarters and staff from North Central Zone on Tuesday, 26th December 2023 visited some of the affected communities in the two Local Government Areas as well as Jos University Teaching Hospital where most of the injured persons are being treated.

The NEMA team assessed along with the State Government officials led by the Deputy Governor and Executive Secretary of Plateau State Emergency Management Agency.

The Director General NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident and commiserated with the Government and people of the state.

He said NEMA has provided food items that will be distributed to provide immediate succor to the affected persons and medicaments to support the treatment of the injured persons.

Recall that no fewer than 96 people were reportedly killed by assailants on Monday night in fresh attacks on several communities of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State
