The Benue State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in Agbanor village, Okpokwu Local Government of the State.
According to a press release on Thursday, 28th September 2023 signed by the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, said that on Friday, 22nd September 2023 at about 1700hrs, received information at Ado Police Division that four girls and two women were kidnaped while they were on their way to the farm in Utonkon District.
The command spokesperson said that during an investigation, the police in collaboration with other security agencies trailed and stormed their hideout in Agbanor village, Okpokwu Local Government.
“On sighting the police, one of the suspects engaged them in a gun duel but was overpowered by the police and arrested with one single barrel gun loaded with two live cartridges. Three other suspects were also arrested within the area.
“The names of the Suspects are Muhammed Ibrahim, Usman Sule, Azoto Alhaji, and Abubakar Shehu.
“A search conducted in the hideout led to the rescue of the six (6) victims who have received treatment at the hospital and reunited with their families while the investigation is ongoing to arrest suspects at large, the statement said.
