Plateau State Police Commissioner, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka on Thursday commissioned another new Police Divisional Headquarters in Namu district of Qua’an pan Local Government Area.
A statement on Thursday, April 13, 2023 signed by the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said that since his assumption, CP Onyeka has commissioned three Police Divisional Headquarters which include Bashar Division in Wase LGA, Gindri Division in Mangu LGA and the just commissioned Namu Divisional Headquarters.
While commissioning Namu Division, the Plateau Police boss hinted that the new division came in to being as a result of the strong Community Policing advocacy of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
According to the CP, aside approving the formation of the police facility, the IGP equipped it with firearms, ammunition and a brand new 2021 model Toyota Hilux operational vehicle to effectively police Namu Community.
The CP further urged Namu Traditional Rulers, Youths and other security agencies to support the new division in its constitutional quest of maintenance of law and order in the Community.
The CP who expressed optimism that the new Police Division will do exceptional exploits in crime fighting, envisioned the Division to grow into becoming an Area Command in the future.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Qua’an pan LGA, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’ a and the Long Jan of Namu, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Engr. Safiyanu Allahnana Magaji lll, thanked the Inspector General of Police for his gracious approval of the formation and the CP for ensuring that the yearnings of having a Police Divisional Headquarters in Namu come into fruition, adding that posterity will remember the CP for the edifice.
