Police EOD-CBRN Launch Investigation Into Alleged Explosion At Rivers TV/Radio Station

Operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Department (EOD) have commenced an investigation into Tuesday, February 21, 2023, an alleged explosion at a TV/radio station in Rivers State.

A statement signed by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Grace Iringe-Koko, said that at about 8.45 p.m., information received from one Peter Anietie of 99.5 Wish FM and the Atlantic Television Network has it that some hoodlums threw an explosive device into the generator house and transformer area, which caused damage to generators and a 500 kVA transformer as well as a transformer feeder panel and electronic appliances in both the radio and television stations. Fortunately, no lives were lost.

She said that operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Department (EOD) have been deployed to the scene for a swift and detailed investigation to ascertain the veracity of the information and unravel what exactly caused the explosion.

The command further assures that if the incident was indeed orchestrated by anyone or grew up, the culprits will be hunted down and made to face the full wrath of the law.

The Command also assured all residents of their safety, especially during this period, as it will leave no stone unturned in providing quality security for all persons residing in or visiting Rivers State.
