Police In Bauchi Continue Crackdown On Criminal Gangs

The Bauchi State Police operatives attached to the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested fifteen notorious thugs, popularly known as Sara-Suka, terrorizing residents of the Bauchi metropolis with weapons.

The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a press release sent to Swift Reporters on Wednesday, 12th April 2023.

Wakili said, “The Command swiftly consolidate the gains of the overwhelming enthusiasm and support of the citizens in the State, carried out series and sustained operations in black sport, criminal hideouts and kidnappers camps at Dutsen Gobirawa, Dajin Madam Forest, Borkoto hills and Yankari Game Reserve forest in Alkaleri LGA.

“Sequel to the unending and relentless commitment of the Command in tackling all forms of crime and criminality in the State.

“The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP Aminu Alhassan psc(+) therefore directed all tactical commanders to embark on aggressive visibility Policing which yielded positive results;

“On 09/04/2023 at about 0100hrs operatives attached to the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led by the Commander to sustain the visibility policing raided respective criminals’ hideout and arrested a syndicate of Sara-suka who sometimes last year killed one Abbas Jibrin alias Timo m aged 23yrs of Nasarawa Jahun ward at Wakilin Birni Rice Mill Bauchi.

The operation, he said, led to the arrest of the following suspects; Mustapha Abdulmumini m aged 20yrs alias Orezi; Kabiru Haruna m aged 23yrs alias Park;
Sulaiman Al-Mustapha m aged 18yrs alias Illa; Umar Ibrahim m aged 19yrs alias Churi; Ibrahim Ahmad m aged 19yrs alias Dan Hajiya; Sunusi Abdulhamid m aged 18yrs alias Dan Shiah; Idris Malam m aged 19yrs alias Baffa; Ibrahim Mohammed m aged 23yrs alias Keke all of Nasarawa Jahun Bauchi metropolitan and Sani Muktar alias Gado m aged 21yrs of Abujan Kwata.

He further said that the confederate of the Mustapha Abdulmumini alias Orezi and Kabiru Haruna alias Park, Sulaiman Al-Mustapha alias Illa, and Umar Ibrahim alias Churi who are the prime suspects that cut off the limp of an innocent citizen earlier last year. the organized operation was successful and yielded positive results.

Wakil stated that a discreet investigation by the Command uncovered that on 21/08/2022 at about 1100hrs, the deceased Abbas Jibrin was called upon by his friends Abdul alias “Cannvaro, Auwal Bakware, Ahmadi and a host of others who are presently at large carted away with him on their motorcycle and thereafter he was rescued by the Police, where he was seriously injured with cutlasses, rushed to the ATBUTH Hospital, Bauchi and later certified death by the medical doctor.

“The Commissioner of Police ordered for postmortem examination for the deceased who was later released to his relatives. He further assured the family and the public that no stone will be left unturned and Justice would be served unfailingly, Wsakil said.

In another development, On 8/04/2023, the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led by the Commander swiftly acted on credible intelligence and raided a suspected criminal-infested hideout and Sara-Suka hoodlums situated at Bayan Gari and Rafin Makaranta which led to the arrest of different notorious offenders which include Sara-Suka and Phone Snatchers who have been terrorizing Bauchi metropolis and beyond.

The operation, he said, also led to the arrest of the following suspects; Abdulhamid Hassan m aged 20yrs alias Shaho; Usman Muhammad m aged 19yrs alias Dan us; Abba Yau m aged 22yrs alias Libidan; Sunusi Abubakar m aged 16yrs alias Mangyada; Abdulsalam Yunusa m aged 19yrs alias Ibbi and Musa Gambo m aged 16yrs alias Tugga

Wakil said, “In continuation to execute our mandates to give sleepless nights to the criminals and raids their infested hideout, On 09/04/2023 and 10/04/2023 at about 1530hrs, Police operatives based at the Alkaleri Forest in collaboration with Quasi-Security outfits while on surveillance patrol around Dutsen Gobirawa, Dajin Madam Forest, Borkoto hills and Yankari Game reserve forest dislodged a suspected kidnappers’ hideout.

Wakil stated that assorted weapon was successfully recovered as exhibits which include; One Locally made AK-47 rifle and Two single-barrel gun

The Command spokesperson further said that the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP Aminu Alhassan has expressed confidence in the officers and men of the Command and has assured the good citizens of Bauchi state and its environs of the Command’s renewed efforts to ensure the full protection of lives and property throughout the state.

He, therefore re-iterates that there will be no hiding place for the perpetrators of the crime as the Command is ever ready to execute its mandate.
