Police operatives in Gombe have arrested eleven Kalare suspects for being in possession of dangerous weapons.
According to a press release on Friday, June 2, 2023, signed by the Gombe State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, the suspects were identified as Abdullahi Saleh, age 18yrs; Yusuf Shittu, age 18yrs; Musa Saleh, age 20yrs, Usman Suleiman, age 23yrs, Alhassan, age 19yrs, Aliyu Yakubu, age 21yrs, Sadiq Adamu, age 21yrs, Dauda Ibrahim, age and Haruna Mohammed, aged 18 yrs.
The Command spokesperson said that on May 30, 2023, the communities of Pantami, Malam-inna, Tudun-Wada, and Checheniya Quarter’s areas of Gombe metropolis reported at the office of Operation Hattara that some groups of boys suspected to be Kalare boys were alleged to have terrorized and carried out nefarious activities in their neighbourhood.
Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives of Operation Hattara swung into action and stormed the criminal hideouts at different locations, where they successfully arrested the suspects who allegedly confessed to having participated in the acts.
The PPRO revealed that the case will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation for possible prosecution.
Exhibits recovered from them include seven cutlasses and three knives.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to the people of the state to continue to partner with police, enhance their personal security, and provide useful information on the activities of any suspicious individuals or groups.
