…as CP Kanayo orders the transfer of the case, arrest, and prosecution of other suspects at large
Police Operatives of the Enugu State Command, serving in the Igbo-Eze North Police Division, working with the Neighborhood Watch Group, have smashed a child stealing syndicate and arrested one Ifeanyi Omeke aged 21, at Igogoro Village in Enugu-Ezike community of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, on October 27, 2023, at about 1.30 p.m.
A statement signed by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the suspect was nabbed after he sneaked into the complainant’s house in the mentioned community and attempted to steal a one-year-old, three-month-old girl child.
The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he was contracted by his cohorts at large to steal children for ritual and other criminal purposes.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State CID for further thorough investigation that will lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal syndicate and their prosecution.
