The Nigeria Police has paraded a 38-year-old Umar Garba for conspiracy, forgery, job racketeering and impersonation as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while parading the suspect on Friday, said that the Sokoto State Police Command arrested him.
The Force PRO said the suspect has been posing as an Assistant Commissioner of Police to defraud people.
He said the suspect, after further investigation by the Force Intelligence Bureau – Intelligence Response Team would face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements.
The suspect, who claimed to be a civil servant with the Sokoto State Arabic and Islamic Board, said that the sum of N4.5 million was the total money he and his collaborators have collected so far from unsuspecting members of the public while his share is 40% of the sum.
